Hardly surprising in the current situation. I remember Sky celebrating the harmony betweeen, and generosity of, Everton and Liverpool fans donating food outside the ground before a derby match. No mention of the fact that foodbanks shouldn't exist in the UK. Sad situation made even sadder due to the virus.

Since austerity measures were implemented its a sad fact now that food banks have been normalised and institutionalised. The ethics about why we have them have become somewhat lost. The increasing precariousness of the economy and household wages have undoubtedly increased their use even before the pandemic.

It's shocking what has happened to this country over recent years.

Similar to everyone celebrating Capt Tom, Geraint Thomas and everyone elses fundraising efforts for the NHS. I'm by no means belittling their achievements but there shouldn't be a need for it to happen.
