Leeds fans I know say he's shite. I hope he plays.
We'll be lucky to get a throw in
Does anybody know how / when the Leeds team will travel down to Cardiff?
Arsenal got on a plane in London at 5pm for an 8pm kick-off at the Etihad on Wednesday, which I thought that was madness. But Leeds need to get down here for a midday kick-off on a Sunday... that can’t be doing them any favours...

Interestingly Leeds havent had any preseason friendly. Whether ours did any good we will soon find out. Will be a strange game, at least to start.
As mentioned above Hernandez def out which is good news. Just about as important to Leeds as Tomlin has become to us.

We're 9/2 to beat Leeds on Betfair Exchange, and I reckon (in my ignorance / optimism) that's a pretty good price, given the uncertainty. Fingers crossed :)

I have a feeling Tomlin will be on bench due to fitness. Bacuna to play in his place.
Wingers are a problem too. Adomah deserves a start based on his earlier performances, but NML is at his best when the sun is on his back so i think Murphy will be the one to miss out

Opta stats
This is the first league meeting between Cardiff and Leeds at the Cardiff City Stadium since September 2017, a 3-1 win for the Bluebirds under Neil Warnock.
Leeds have taken just one point from their last four league games against Cardiff (D1 L3), drawing 3-3 having been 3-0 up in the reverse fixture this season.
This will be the first time Cardiff have hosted Leeds for a match on a Sunday since winning 2-1 in an FA Cup tie at Ninian Park in January 2002 when Leeds were top of the Premier League.
Leeds have won each of their last five league games without conceding a single goal. The Whites have achieved this feat on four other previous occasions, most recently in December 2009 - they have never won six straight league games without conceding.
Cardiff have picked up six draws in their last eight league games on home soil (W1 D1) - no side has drawn more home games in the Championship this season (8).
Leeds have won more points from their last six games (16) than any other Championship team.

Perhaps now the doom mongers amongst you will realise what has been true all season. You have a cracking chance of the play offs. Preston are bang average. Your biggest threat? Swansea imo
One thing that does go in your favour. Strength in depth. That bench today was very strong for this level. Hope you make top six.

Massively impressed with City. High work rate and well organized. Having no fans didn't seem to make any difference.
I am, like so many City fans, a glass half empty man, (as DML 1954 can testify) but after that performance and having an almost injury free squad we must have a chance of sneaking into the play offs.

I do not expect promotion but the break has suited us more than most of our rivals.
Having less quality in depth, NML and Tomlin would have missed the run in.
We do have a chance of sneaking into the playoffs and we would be as fresh as any other side.
If we do succeed I fear for us with the current attitude of our owner not investing in players.
Enjoying the current situation.

Though the City look better prepared , fitness looked very good , great substitutions just a the right time ,well done City and Neil Harris.
Leeds on this form will not go up , they looked off the pace , with no real determination .in front of goal they were poor .
If City maintain and build on today they have a great chance of play offs with a full squad and even Cunningham is back in training , who knows an empty Wembley beckons ??

Still think Leeds have too much of a cushion to miss out.. Annoying also that as we are Leeds' bogey team...so Preston are to us.....

Agree that Adomah is off the pace but he does not look any more off the pace than when he arrived. Reading the Forest Forum when he signed on loan the general opinion of Forest fans was that his legs had gone and they were quite happy to see him off the payroll albeit for a short time.

You’re more likely to miss a penalty at home because of pressure. If you’re saying fans don’t influence a players performance I can show you plenty of scientific studies that prove otherwise.
It could mean that a player rushes upfield when the best option isn’t to.
“The effect of the crowd may also extend to affecting the players/ athletes behaviour in their particular event. Thirer & Rampey (1979) discovered that during normal crowd behaviour the visiting teams committed more infractions, however during crowd antisocial behaviour the home teams committed more infractions. The authors concluded that “anti-social behaviour from the crowd had a detrimental effect on the home team”.”
Now. Stop talking shit.

Yes a great win from a hardworking performance.
I understand the difficulty with retaining the ball but am disappointed at how often we make bad short passes, particularly when not under pressure.

Morrison defended well again today but he can’t pass , even over a short distance forward, to a blue shirt. Still, he did his main job very effectively today
good win today as i predicted back in march 2018.

Its astonishing how much stick Paterson gets
2 centre forwards out there today - if Leeds had our one they may have got a result.
Leeds like to play it out from the back and the mad bstard Scots man was all over them like a rash never giving them a break - we scored twice from 2 incidents of Leeds giving the ball away cheaply in a dangerous area - Paterson beat them up today leaving others to exploit - Again.
Enjoy him while he's here - he'll have legend like status when he leaves.
We gotta thank Bamford for that cracking save on the goal-line :hehe:

The crowd can influence a performance in relation to passion, commitment and energy, to keep a team going when its late in the game and the chips are down but to make out, as you did, that they influence tactics during a game is ridiculous. As is quoting a 41 year old legal case about something totally different like hooliganism. What has tactics or the way the team plays got to do with taking a penalty either - you hit the ball and either score or don’t score.

A couple of things for me. First, QPR fans who reckoned we'd bought the best keeper in the Championship, look to be good judges. Bacuna worked really hard throughout, which made up for a rather stale-looking Joe Ralls. A midfield of Ralls, Bacuna and Vaulks could play together for eternity and still not be anything other than a holding, spoiling trio.
That said, we lacked home advantage against the top side in the division and beat them 2-0. Signs are good if we can keep relatively injury-free..

One evening I was chatting with the late Jimmy Andrews when he was City manager . I asked him why were teams' home performances better at home than away as surely professional sportsmen should be able to play to their best in any environment. He said the crowd and their noise/reactions had a big influence on the home side and also the away side however much the players tried to switch off. Makes perfect sense.

Interesting that Everton v Liverpool on SKY has NO crowd noise.... lack of intensity in this game.

Just our luck to have a Cardiff Swans playoff final this year.

Classic case of sour grapes I thought. OK City had two chances, both from Leeds mistakes and scored two goals. Sorry butt, but that's the way it often goes! To be fair Leeds were far the better side in terms of possession, had City chasing shadows very often, or giving the ball away frequently because they were so quick to close them down. What is it about Leeds and CCFC - both teams have obviously changed players over the years yet there is always the feeling that City will turn them over. Is there some kind of residual psychological trauma at work here?! Having said that we have Preston next - dare I mention the 6 goal thing.....:hide:

Totally.

Either that or the interpreter did his own thing :hehe:
Seriously though, Bielsa obviously believes all the hype that is all around him and his team. No doubt he knows his stuff and is well respected judging by all the tributes paid to him at half time but he lacks class.
I'm glad he had that attitude as it makes people dislike Leeds even more.
The commentator also had a backhanded swipe at Warnock in the game too but fair play to Mick McCarthy, he said that Warnock's way had got his side promoted, that there is more than one way of gaining success.
Without wishing to go over old ground regarding the virtues of playing good football, getting the best out of what you have at your disposal is all one can ask and NH has only added a couple to the squad. He is doing better than okay.
Harris and his team deserved some praise today for the way he went about tackling the best side in the.division and to his credit, Jimmy Floyd was complimentary in his summing up.

John Barnes reaction to Everton vs Liverpool
Liverpool struggled because at Goodison the crowd will push the team forward allowing Liverpool to exploit the space.
I thought the crowd doesn’t influence the way a team plays?

Glatzel held the ball up well, they didn't pump it at his head or aimlessly up the pitch.. he found options and brought other players into the game as a result.
Great finish.
Not bothered by the possession as it was expected, would like us to TRY and retain the ball though as it takes pressure off the back 4.
Should play an actual striker up top..unless he's missing sitters.

Quite - a good assessment. 2 shots and 2 goals with 31% possession either means clinical or lucky - time will tell, but I suspect that I can guess which it is.
But complaining about the result afterwards is just poor form and unsporting. So very much to be expected from Leeds!
Your comment about Preston is noted.... :yikes:

Yes, I live in Leeds (unfortunately) and most of my mates agreed we deserved to win. They were very poor 20 yards from their goal and 20 yards from ours. Apart from that, they did well :hehe:
Also, Bielsa said we had 2 shots and scored both. Their massive 3 shots on target seemed to get forgotten about. Nice to see Hasselbaink giving us some well deserved praise.
