He'd missed the bull for the match, then MVG not only takes it but also starts the last with a 180.
You could just see him go to pieces bless him.

Agreed.

While the crowd definitely adds to the occasion, I think the lack of crowds has been a leveller. I haven't missed the booing and I think that's allowed some players to get on with just playing the game.

One of the things that says it is Christmas in recent years and one of the sporting tournaments that still holds a lot of its charm without crowds.

They need to review some sort of shot clock, Suljovic’s action were appalling 50 seconds to throw 3 darts, is not acceptable

Another fantastic game just finished, Steven Bunting beating unseeded Searle in the very last frame.
Game ebbed and flowed and Searle had the darts on the last frame but a 180 straight away from Bunting saw Searle crumble as Cullen did against MVG yesterday.

Pleased for Bunting (Peter Griffin) who was in tears and very magnanimous in victory, unlike MVG was.

Comfortable victory for Price. King never reached the heights of his performance against de Sousa in the previous round, but Price played well all the same.

I've warmed to him during the last year or so. He seems to have matured and calmed down a little. Be good if he can pinch the number one spot.

A correction. I make it that, unless Price beats Anderson then Cross will miss out to the winner, or Chizzy if Price beats him in the final.

It would be unprecedented if the world number 5 missed out but I don't think he deserves it.

Assuming they dispense with the changing 10th player due to Covid, that leaves MVG, Price, Wright and whoever finishes in 4th. 6 wildcards - my picks would be the three major winners (De Sousa, Duzza and Van Den Bergh), Chisnall (if he doesn't win WC), Anderson (if he doesn't win WC), Aspinall and I'd include Van Duijvenbode for the Dutch crowds. If Bunting wins WC, drop Van Duijvenbode.

I don’t think that Gezzy has peaked, he’s been playing poorly by his standards. If he wins it’ll be by a narrow margin, if Anderson wins it could be by 3 or 4 sets. He’s often inconsistent, that will determine tomorrow’s outcome. Which Gezzy will turn up?

Yes, he's got a habit of winning tight sets and deciding legs. I was reading somewhere that, in a scenario of last leg decider, only one dart at double to win, he's got the highest success percentage of everyone. He has bottle.

I fear for him that the pressure of becoming world no 1 and champion is tough for him to manage. He'll be like a bottle of pop tonight and how he manages that will be key. Anderson knows all about appearing in finals so he shouldn't be fazed by it. Of course, Anderson has had issues with him in the past and I hope Price doesn't think he needs to get involved with mind games. I've got no time for that shit.

Let's hope it's a good game of darts. It has the potential to be a classic. My prediction: neither will finish with an average of 100 or more.

Happy for the guy, some journey from rugby to pdc q school in 2014 to now win the world title.

I quite like the celebrating as well to be honest, darts has never struck me as the pretentious type. The sport is full of people that have come from quite modest backgrounds and its often played in front of people who are having a good time getting on the drink.

Characters, good guy, bad guy, helps make it interesting, particularly at the moment when there is no atmosphere.
