Wonder where Bonham got the opening drum rolls to Rock & Roll? Look no further:

Wonder where they stole 'Whole Lotta Love' from? (Plus Steve Marriott was a far better vocalist than Plant!)

These are just two examples, I'm sure the music lovers on this board can point out many, many more!

He is one of the greats.
Learnt his trade as a session musician and played with some of the biggest names around in the studio before becoming a star in his own right.
Maybe in true rock and roll style he did a deal with the devil as he was hugely into the life and times of the occultist Alistair Crowley. If so Robbie Williams may be a worried man.

Well all bands take from others

The first led zep album was basically blues

I always thought plant was the weak link in led zep

As for Bonham, he and John Paul Jones were an amazing rhythm section

Small faces were open about stealing from Willie Dixon and muddy waters

By Zep 3 , they had their own style

I love some of these mashups that are available on YouTube.

Here's my own personal favourite, Slayer meet the B52s:

Me too. I hate his voice. Thin and shrieky.

Excellent. I just heard this last week. Good, but could use some riffage.

There are a few that actually work well as good songs. This is a good one from an Australain band called the Death Set that put out a whole album of mash-ups. At 1:41. 52 Girls vs. Shimmy Shimmy Ya (B52's vs. O.D.B.)

Led Zeppelin one of my all time favourite bands but I’ll admit it’s variations on others

Was it consciously ripped though? When I used to play on my guitar as a kid I used to play something and think, Christ this is amazing! Then few hours later get told “Yeh, that’s a song already”.

Either way every band takes influence of others I just wish they’d credit it rather than dispute it for the sake of money

He lives in Holland Park these days, I seen him do a guest spot at Roy Harpers 70th bash at the festival hall about 5 - 6 years ago Harper was a big influence on LZ.

The Firm were a pretty damn fine band. Saw them from the front row at Hammersmith Odeon in December '84 and they were certainly better than anyone else live, around at that time.

Caught them again in May '85 at the dreadful Birmingham NEC (my one and only time at that awful aircraft hanger of a venue) and they were still shit-hot.

You just know that any band with Paul Rodgers in is going to be da dogs bollux, apart from his stint in the perennially over-rated Queen

The Firm and mean Business were two of the best albums of '84 and '85. Having said that, thee wasn't much opposition around at the time

One of my favourite Roy Harper albums back in the day was 'Whatever Happened To Jugula?' the album he released in 1985, a few years after Zep split up. Have you not heard this, Sludgey?
