Tony Villars makes his Wales debut! I never had him down as a player of international class, and had totally forgotten he wore the red jersey.

Kinell MS68, any chance of posting a game we actually won? Saying that they were few and far between back then! :hehe:

Can't remember if i was there for that one tbh although I do remember I was in the enclosure the year after for the 2-2 draw against Scotland.

Vividly remember Brian Flynn's goal, probably the best I'd ever seen down NP at the time, it was a thing of beauty.

Yeah, I barely saw many Wales games in those days due to the fact we never seemed to win, or score even. I was there for the Scotland game in 1975. The first time I stood on the Grange End with my mates from school. Of course, I was there the following year for the Yugoslavia game, as well

Think I watched that one on the telly (shown live?) the unforgettable game for the wrong reasons.... not least referee Rudi Glockner

If I'm not mistaken Gerald Sinstadt (passed away last week) commentating, the England games that is.

England stacked with great and excellent players. Wales meanwhile, relying on mostly average and mundane players

I'd forgot we were 2-0 up. Back then, the Home Internationals was the only time you'd see live football on a Saturday besides the FA Cup final.

So much to comment on here (Marsh’s tackle at 17:55 as mentioned in one of the YouTube comments!)

The most startling thing, after the reminder of our largely sand-based pitch at the time, was how England seemed to have moved with the times as far as their kit was concerned whereas Wales looked to be wearing one from the early 1960s. And the ref was dressed from the 1940s!
