Great player, I love his game and his attitude. But it's clear that opposing sides are targeting him with high balls and crosses to his side of goal. So - is Perry Ng too short to play at centre back? Discuss.

it isn't unusual for teams to have a shorter player in a back 3.we certainly look better with him there than we ever did with the 3 of Morrison, flint and Nelson.

almost everyone plays a back 3 these days and not many teams have 3 giants at the back.

also he's not exactly short, probably 5'10 at least

He’s 1cm shorter than Ben Davies, I don’t recall him ever being questioned as part of a back 3

about 9 cm taller than Gary Medel who often played there in a successful Chile side

He's not too short. He's not there for that anyway. If he's the one going for headers predominantly then we have a problem in terms of players not understanding their roles in the team. Obviously he is going to have to contest high balls from time to time, the same he would as a fullback tucking in when the ball is on the other side. If other teams were targeting him then it would be because he is isolated in a1v1 aerial battle. That would be morisons problem. He's almost 6ft anyway, so i suppose the question should be whether or not he is good enough at challenging defensive headers.

I imagine there would be less aerial requirement in South American international football than a cold wet Tuesday night in Huddersfield.

I did think that Hudds targeted him when they went more direct but I don’t think Fulham did.

One of the most effective centre backs recently for CCFC was that Darcy Blake

About 5 foot 5

It doesn't help that Drameh isn't exactly great in the air as well.

His one on one defending is good but he’s guilty of ball watching a fair bit when the ball comes in from the opposite side

Talking of him, will Leeds be able to recall him if they want to?

That was a fall, although not really unexpected given reports on his personal life. Went to Palace, had his contract ripped up and ended up playing rugby for some Rhymney Valley parks side i recall? Sad situation really.

Against West Brom at the hawthorns he was thrown in by dave Jones

19 year old

Grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck , centre midfield

Could have been a great player

also he wasn't very good, we've had some really good centre backs over the years, Blake isn't one of them.

a back 3 could have been a lot more to his strengths though

Him and the Scouse Git were a great combination

When that partnership ended due to injury we went back to playing like headless chickens

No you can't recall except in the transfer window

He’s the same height as Jagielka, Ake and Ben Mee, all who’ve had success in the premier league.

Not to mention Fabio Cannavaro, one of the best centre backs of the modern era and just 5ft 9in

But how many times would he have faced someone like Madine, Ikpeazu or Fortune-West?

Just re-checked. The profile to the right of Darcy Blake's Wiki page says 1.83m. The Wiki page itself says 1.78m - or 5' 10". That looks right. Not quite as vertically challenged as Sludge suggested.
