I think I'm an outlier on yesterday's game as I enjoyed it - I thought we showed signs of huge improvements defensively and it was two sides who cancelled each other out - that happens sometimes but this is a game we would have lost a few months back

We havent had a penalty all season and I don't think I've seen a half decent referee in all the games I've seen as well. He was shocking yesterday and it was more like grecco wrestling than football and for all the hype around Ryan Lowe felt a little shallow as I felt Preston were worse than when we played them at Deepdale - maybe not a fair reflection but felt they cynical beyond the rules and the ref allowed them.

I felt for Davies yesterday as their number 41 manhandled him the whole time and it wasn't until uche came on and got a bit of space that he showed up the 41 for the donkey he was - a bit of a lesson for Davies which I'm sure he will learn from

The change of shape when we brought on Colwill and Ikpeazu was desperately needed. Playing three central defenders and three central midfielders doesn't give us many attacking options.

Fair summary Paul

Although I felt a bit robbed by the disallowed goal I think a draw was definitely a fair result.

Disappointing that after the ref let everything go for 70~80 minutes he decided to hand out soft free kicks and bookings toward the end of the game.

Defence looks so much more balanced with Ng in there and he’s like an extra midfielder when we’ve got the ball . Wintle also makes a big difference, closing that hole in the middle so Flint & McGuinness are no longer having to constantly deal with runners coming from midfield. Wintle is also very comfortable on the ball. He’s become a key player for us.

Uche had by far his best showing and we may have won had he come on earlier

Positive signs overall, but so much more room for improvement

Team selection was strange. Harris should have started, with Davies coming on later, as a sub along with Uche. Hugwill was doing little to distract the defenders, to allow Davies his runs.

Hugill doesn’t half get stuck in though. One example being right in front of us in the Grandstand, he battered his way, fairly in our opinion, through three Preston challenges, coming out with the ball yet the ref penalised him:shrug: I can only imagine the ref was of the opinion that for him to come out with the ball in that situation he must have done it unfairly.
