We gave a defiant defensive display, Neil Alexander inspired, as we drew 0-0 at Ashton Gate en route to the Championship.

I was there with my lad. The only way we could get tickets was via a Bristolian friend of his (who was in a different part of the ground for the match), so of course we ended up in with the Wurzels. Not a pleasant experience as the home crowd around us was not just hostile, there was a real venomous hatred which was a bit scary!

I’ve never felt so sick at the start of a game, and was stood behind the goal wondering why I’d bothered to come. We’d blown it the year before - imagine blowing it again with the chance to play the final in your home city!

What a feeling at the final whistle though!

Was living in Bristol and watched it in a pub there….a few city fans in there too. Can’t believe that’s almost 20 years ago.
