Clue: I took the photo today, the team plays in its country's Premier League and it's team colour is yellow.5540

Interesting as it's my photo and not posted anywhere else but we know how sophisticated search engines are these days.

Looking at that sky, it's southernish Europe and I'm guessing ir's an old Soviet bloc country, but, having looked on Wikipedia, the only countries on mainland Europe with a Premier League appear to be Russia and Ukraine!

Which city and which team?

The capital city club FC Astana, or has it changed its name again? It seems like only yesterday it was Nur-Sultan.

Wrong city, old fruit.

So Almaty then & Kairat. I am also friends with G00gle.

How do you get on with the language there?

That's cheating! :-)

The main language in this region is Russian (even though it was just 150 miles from the Chinese border) and by transliterating the Cyrillic script I can understand a few things but it's not easy, which I like. 'Twas part of the Soviet Union, of course

I have since moved on to a neighbouring country, where getting around is even more of a challenge but, once again, Russian in the lingua franca here too.

Not seen a tourist since I landed several days ago and months of preparation have paid off handsomely for my very complicated schedule slightly off the beaten track.

Not as brave as you. I’m doing a farewell to Poland (& work) grand driving tour in June. 8 countries already on the list, checking the logistics for others. Contemplating going to Lviv but looks like I can’t get insurance.

Lviv and let Lviv, I say. Visited Kyiv/Kiev and Odessa/Odessa a few years ago. The latter had a bit of a Parisian feel about it and flying between those cities showed exactly why it is the breadbasket of Europe. Flat, cultivated fields from ear of corn to ear.
Entering Ukraine via bus from Transnistria was spooky though.

I've never tried that before.
Quickly received an answer that I assume is accurate!

Today's ground I visited belongs to a team that plays in the capital city of a double-landlocked country (and it shares the latter characteristic only with Liechtenstein).
Don't worry about the name of the club itself but what city is it?
And no googling!

Close but no cigar. Tajikistan borders China, which obviously has a coastline :-)

Indeed. You have won a thousand litres of yak's milk and a weekend in a yurt!

Here's a photo I took yesterday outside the national football stadium. As I tend to walk around for six or seven hours every day it's easy to include such stadiums on my routes. I'm not here specifically to photograph them :-)
