I think if a club enters a Transfer Embargo period it should be a double ended rule whereby wealthy clubs cannot just come along and buy players from that embargoed club at any cost , it seems grossly unfair to have a restriction on purchase that effects your recovery and not on selling where you can end up with club under awful pressure to grab every buck they can and selling well its best players in a fire sale well under the market value , its like the richer clubs picking away at their bones of the weaker .

Or perhaps a rule that has a no salerule unless a set value is met based on a pre set market player values before the embargo, plus 10%, to help the ailing club recovery .

Sounds crap. Who’s the 3rd party setting an arbitrary market value? How often does that value get adjusted?

If we got relegated and wanted to offload our highest earners to balance the books, we wouldn’t be allowed to even if both clubs and the players agreed on a lower price?

Sounds like a good way to end up with a bloated wage bill and players who don’t want to play for the club.
