The Refereeing has been so different to what we have all been accustomed to watching the EPL and EFL.

The increasing gamesmanship we have all had to endure over the last 10 to 20 years looks to have been targeted in this tournament.

Germany will feel hard done by in the first half against the Ivory Coast, the latter seemingly benefitting from the "new" code but I've noticed it in quite a few other games this far.

So refreshing to see these cheating entitled primadonnas' wings being clipped.

Tam converts �42Mil of debt to equity

A BBC article popped up for me saying that Tan had converted around �42 million from debt to equity (tried to link it below). Haven't seen anything from the club on this officially.

On the face of it, it really looks like Tan is acting following through with previous promises and doing right by the club. That said, I'm not particularly into finance, so was wondering whether one of the experts on here could spell out any potential ramifications.

A few interesting points I took from the article:

Before the conversion:

CCFC owed �161m in total and pay around �7m (annually?) in interest
Tan's loans to the club totalled almost �90m by the end of the 2024-25 season. More than half of these loans do not accrue interest;
�37.3m is owed to Tormen Finance/Mehmet Dalman - this debt is accruing interest;
Assume there must be ~�34Mil owed to other parties, which would presumably carry interest.

On the face of it, Tan seems to be one of the "better" creditors that CCFC have outstanding loans with as at least some of it isn't actively costing the club money each year.

After the conversion (not accounting for further loans/expenditure), presumably CCFC will owe Tan circa �48million. It isn't clear from the article whether these remaining loans that were the ones which carried the interest or not. If they are - is there any difference in real terms? What does it matter whether the club owed him cash with no interest rather than him owning shares? I'm assuming that the effective value of Tan's converted shares he now owned would be linked to the value of the club, so is he effectively betting on us to become more valuable than where we were at the time that he made the conversion?

Also - would the conversion make it more likely that Tan was priming the club for a sale by making the balance sheet look better? The timing with Bales announcement is probably coincidental, but is there a possibility that this move makes Bale getting involved more likely?

It's been shit, hasn't it? I've never paid so little attention to it; too many useless teams, like in the early Champions League games. Hopefully, it will get a lot better in the later stages.
