  • Vincent Tan in line for £4billion jackpot

It would appear that after a court case Tan could be considering selling his stake in Prudential Malaysia which could result in him , at today’s value, getting around £4 billion . Interesting!

30% of a 5 billion US dollar whole company valuation, so more like £1 billion, still a lot of money though.

He's very prudent, except for buying us.

He can now take TLG and Tuerto for a top notch ice cream with flakes and 100’s & 1,000’s on and get them back on board, and pay Sludges bail money to get him posting back on here instead of infesting the politics forum. The only extreme right winger he can talk about then will be Olly Tanner.
            Jobs a good un..

IF Pru Malaysia is worth RM20billion as is being suggested then the investment fund in which Tan participates has a 30% stake worth RM6billion or £1.1billion approx. Each participant in the fund holds a maximum stake of 10%, hence Tan is in line for £110million at most.

              Pru Malaysia valuation: https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/ca...malaysia-stake
"Tan is talking to advisers about a possible divestment, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. He may seek to sell at a price that values the entire business at RM20 billion or more, one of the people said."

Participants in the Detik Ria investment fund: https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/720998
"A check on Companies Commission of Malaysia shows that Detik Ria is jointly owned by 10 entities, each holding a 10% stake. They are: Berjaya Capital Bhd (a 100%-owned unit of Berjaya Corp Bhd (KL:BJCORP) as at Oct 2, 2023), Ekuiti Spektrum Sdn Bhd, Seahouse Capital Sdn Bhd, Antara Merdeka Sdn Bhd, Pentas Sentral Sdn Bhd, Arah Juara Sdn Bhd, Cangkat Selasih Sdn Bhd, Persada Majestik Sdn Bhd, Serata Setia Sdn Bhd, and Gabungan Majestik Sdn Bhd."

Reading that, it seems he wants to sell his stake, and take the cash. I wonder what he wants the money for?

Well following the trend of this thread his stake is now worth something from the saver menu at McDonald's. Good luck to him.

I suspect it's down to the change in foreign ownership rules that led to some nonsense with dividend payments before Pru forced the investment fund to divest itself of a large chunk (19% of their 49% stake) of its investment probably at less than market rate (due to the JV agreement the business was set up on).

£110m is not exactly a kick in the whatits. Maybe some can now be spent on the new training ground?
