Nothing I should imagine. If a player is happy with a drawn up contract that theoretically kicked in upon the ending of an embargo then I doubt anyone is in position to stop. Sounds like a sensible thing to do really

What’s to stop us? Most likely the players’ clubs and agents.
Bobby Reid joined Fulham on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer, but the deal was completed five months later.

The EFL embargo rules prevent making any commitment to payments in the future, so unfortunately they thought of this scenario and do not allow it.
