Drainpipes, Brothel Creepers and National Service

I'm a bit young for those, being only 66.
I remember my uncles (5-10 years older than me) wearing drainpipes and winklepickers, but not brothel-creepers.
My daf fid NS, stationed in NI before it went really nasty.

'raid so but I was too young for National Service, missed by about 3 years.

Maybe a year later, think Conscription finished in 1958/1959.

My eldest brother got his call-up papers but never went because they scrapped it just before he was due to go. He is now 80, which put it ending about 58 as you estimated.

I've still got drainpipes at my house....
