World is a sad place, makes me feel grateful for what we have and take for granted in the UK.

When Ceausescu was overthrown in Romania 30 years ago it exposed a similar system, common amongst the old Soviet regime. Only when the system was changed were Romania granted EU membership. This could scupper Ukraines chances of them joining anytime soon.
