Meter readers (Fing smart meters) , and a guy who went around in a van checking which street lights needed changing

Things have moved on, I doubt they’d be laying down, the ceiling about four foot above them with a pick axe in their hand. There’d be a lot of button pressing and non human involvement at the sharp end. Obviously a lot fewer employees than the past but there would be some work for areas that badly need it.

The thinnest seam mined in South Wales was 2ft 6in i believe.
