So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
Harris has gone
People wanted a manager in quickly to avoid a relegation struggle
The club have appointed an old school , roll up your sleeves manager who is more old school than a lot of people wanted
Is it going to be a good appointment ?
Well we don't know yet do we ?
I never liked Dave Jones , he was a miserable git and was here for far too long but he was our manager
It looks like its not going to be pretty but he might get a lot of what he has here
Who knows
Telling him to feck off and throwing your toys out of the pram won't get us anywhere
It is what it is
If my aunty was my uncle she would have a pair of bollocks
But we are cardiff city , not swansea

Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
I think it depends on the length of the contract for me.
Short term Mick isn't the worst choice and an obvious step up from Harris. I have more faith in Mick keeping us up than Harris.
But it has to be a short term appointment.

He's an experienced manager with a good record at this level of football. I can't believe it's possible for the quality of football to decline under his guidance. Dry your eyes folks.

I always support the new manager until there's a reason not to ie Harris's losing run of games

Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
This appointment is showing where we are for the next few years. Avoid relegation. We are Ipswich a few years ago. Anything else other than relegation is a bonus.
We know Micks style suits our current players.
Probably isnt going to effect crowds as cant see even next season anything other than restricted attendances.
If he keeps us up relatively comfortably im sure his deal will be extended.
Its not going to be pretty but we wont go down.

Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
Cardiff City 150% , right or wrong, good or bad , for all the generations who spent 14 hours a day down the pit and kept on believing!!!
-
Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
I think the six month contract is sensible.
If he does very well then he will get an extension. Mid table and we should and probably will look elsewhere.
It is what it is. I'll back him for the time he is here while at the ground as I did Harris. I think the pub debrief and message boards like this are the places to point out the bleeding obvious and concerns though.
That is no different with Mick than it has been with any other manager though.
I wish him well as it will mean my football club doing well and climbing the league also.

Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
Realistic comments on here which I agree with.
I'd like to think this is a short term plan to stabilise before bringing in a young, talented manager. Then I remembered I support Cardiff City.

MM will get us to the verge of the play offs and get a two year extension.
You almost know it is going to happen. It is written in the stars.

We've got a 9 point cushion. And 22 games to pick up 20-odd points. Literally, anyone could have done it. I'd have been happy with Sean Morrison picking the team for a month.

People who say “It is what it is” never get anywhere

I tend to agree but we know the score on social media and in modern football today people start panicking and before you know it its squeaky bum time

Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
Never ever did I think Mick McCarthy would get the job,but now he has it makes sense til the end of the season and hopefully the club will look a bit more attractive.
Who knows maybe he will then take a Director of football position and help to get a new manager in place.

This so much, anyone with anything about them would have been able to get enough points to stay up - so we should have gone for someone progressive and permanent. This 'stopgap' is ****ing pointless and will probably turn in to a two year contract for him, boring the shit out of fans all the while along - this guy parked the bus against ****ing Gibralter when 1-0 with Ireland.

This is what I'm afraid of.

Re: So let's nail our colours to the mast shall we ?
Anything more than a till the end of season deal is bad news for me.
Obviously I'll support the team and manager until he's no longer here.
He's just not the manager to take us up and keep us there.

Which 6 month contract?

The rot is off the field. He may temporarily slow down the on field issues, but unless Mick McCarthy has enough money to buy the club and then clean house, he most certainly will not stop the rot. He's been brought in by the rot.

I don't get all this 'keeping us up' nonsense. We were pretty poor but nowhere near in danger let's be honest.
