6 world champions, 1 world match play & Littler. From that perspective probably couldn’t be stronger

He's a bit more box office than Daniel Noppert I guess.

Dobey, Chizzy, Bunting probably all better candidates

Same. I think he's gone as a top tungsten tosser. Lovely guy.
Re: Premier League Darts Lineup 2024
Wright still 8th in the world rankings so not that much of a wild card plus he brings a bit more colour and personality to proceedings. A bit of loyalty too perhaps.

It's a bit England heavy this year so the PDC were probably keen to keep a Scot in the line-up, especially with two Scottish venues again this year. Turning up to Aberdeen with 6 English players would go down like a lead balloon.
As JRH says, Wright isn't that much of a wild card this time round but him and Anderson need to pull their fingers out if Scotland are going to keep a player in there next year. Not much coming up behind them either. Soutar and Menzies aren't costing the top 10 any sleep, Thornton's gone, Henderson's down to 165th in the rankings and Borland hasn't hit a 180 since his 9-darter. Time for Jimmy the Jock to sharpen his arrows and step up to the oche?
