Being honest here, my first memory of a city game is an away game at Abertawe Town in 1959 (looked it up in the past, as I could remember Tappy scoring), but now you have put the list up, I am sure Trevor Morris was manager when my brother started taking me down the city.
Not just saying that, it just rings a bell. I can remember my brother going on about the Merrett brothers robbing us blind on crowd numbers as well. :thumbup:

All clubs fiddled gates in those gates - those 20k+ crowds under scoular were prob high twenties.
My dad knew Merrett v. well. Also Dewey. When City went up in 59/60 Dewey told him 'now our problems will start', meaning higher wages. Definitely a case of 'not really wanting to go up'..

Cyril Spiers for me, although I was only 8 for my first game, a 2-1 defeat by Arsenal 52/53 season.
