Moving from Cardiff To Tumpy Land, any of you done it ?
I'm thinking of selling up and moving on, not that keen on going over the mounting but financially it is appealing, it would be my last move.

I've lived all over Cardiff, (Riverside, Adamsdown, Ely, Canton, Cathays, Pontcanna, Roath, Llanedeyrn), tore the arse out it really, so we decided to move to RCT, best move we ever made. Like you said property is more affordable, the natives are friendly and Cardiff's only a short journey away, win, win.

Done it the other way around.
Will probably go back to Caerphilly one day.
Great place 👍

We don't want you illiterate, uncouth, poor types in Caerphilly. Go and live somewhere else

I think I'd go nuts. I'd miss city life and all it brings unless you're happy to pay £30 for a taxi or get the last train home butt

Many have, and were never heard of again, having fallen over the edge.

City life? Its hardly New York.
The valleys etc are basically just suburbs of Cardiff nowadays. Its hardly like moving to the moon.

Re: Moving from Cardiff To Tumpy Land, any of you done it ?
I thought a twmp was a "hump" rather than a hill - isn't that a bryn?

As a born and bred Cardiffian, who moved to Caerphilly about four years ago, I agree. Caerphilly is more or less a Cardiff overspill. Love it here mind, it's got everything you need. Will probably stay for good.

No, but go for it if you think the sums are right. Lots more snow days too :glasses:

Re: Moving from Cardiff To Tumpy Land, any of you done it ?
I've thought of it tbh, as you seem to get a lot more bang for your buck in terms of houses, and living in Thornhill, it's sometimes more convenient to use the banks etc in Caerphilly than to go to town.
Shops are crap mind.

One reason not to - the A470!

The thought of moving away from the City has never entered my head. Moving up the sticks no way man.

This. If you leave Cardiff but have to travel in to work, probably the most important factor for me would be the proximity to a train station. I travel out of Cardiff up the A470 and the M4 every morning and the queues coming in are usually horrendous. That being said I do like Caerphilly and if I were to have to move for financial reasons, that would probably be where I would go.
