20 MPH Cardiff Road Scheme Goes Live
Effects those in Llandaff North,Whitchurch,Tongwnlias, Rhiwbina and Heath.
Goes live March 22.

Re: 20 MPH Cardiff Road Scheme Goes Live
Goes or going?
It can't have gone live, like the title of your post says, if the other information that it goes live march 22nd is correct.
I am confused. Please clarify.

No number plates or road tax so no, they do what they want.

We've got this around here - it is a joke.

Ridiculous, 30mph is sufficient except for side streets and right near schools at in and out time.

Re: 20 MPH Cardiff Road Scheme Goes Live
I thought most of Cardiff was 20 anyway.

Electric scooters fine too, how are they supposed to get the knock off gear home before daylight at 20mph.

Majority (in my personal experience) are OK. It's the minority of ***** that drag them all down.
Although more than a minority don't seem to understand the closer they ride to the kerb the easier it is to manoeuvre around them..

Speed limits only apply to motorised vehicles, so no.

Does anyone reach 20 mph around Fairwater, Danescourt, Llandaff and Radyr these days?
-
Re: 20 MPH Cardiff Road Scheme Goes Live
You're lucky if you can get over 30mph these days. To me, this is simply a reflection of how badly Cardiff Council have handled the roads issue. It's a case of "We've made things so bad, that you'll all agree to 20mph, because you know that's all you can manage at the best of times'. This city is becoming a joke.

Car drivers don’t pay road tax either

Correct

Re: 20 MPH Cardiff Road Scheme Goes Live
It's a nonsense. Road schemes currently designed by people who don't commute and haven't committed for two years.
A mass 20mph scheme won't work for numerous reasons, primarily because it will be ignored. I was going to write in to comment on it during the consultation until I realised that the street I used to live on was already 20mph but was totally ignored so I thought it pointless to even object to any of it.
Should be more targeted in my opinion.

If a cyclist (arsehole or not) is riding at 20mph, then anyone in a motorised vehicle has no reason to try to overtake them by squeezing past. They'll be speeding if they do.

Re: 20 MPH Cardiff Road Scheme Goes Live
Of course, there's no connection with the fact that Huw Thomas, Council leader, is a keen cyclist.

Cyclists go down 60mph roads. Excuse my ignorance what will this change do to benefit them?

Don’t worry the best is yet to come, apparently the WAG want to make eastern ave one lane each way, the other being a bus lane. I dont think I’ve ever seen a bus on it and I’m on there most days. Ely is a bit different on western ave as there’s about a million buses. Like southern way which links Newport rd and eastern ave, one lane for buses and taxi’s….barely ever see one whilst the other two lanes queue for 10 mins everyday.

You need to read the highway code and then follow it's rules.

Does it say that a singular cyclist can ride near the centre of the road?

Tour de France winners average just above 20mph. You can rest easy knowing cyclists won’t be affected by these rules as they won’t be hitting 20mph cycling to work :hehe:

In my fifties I was averaging 27 mph in ten mile time trials and 22 mph over fifty miles.
Yes, averaging.

Given the number of buses that use it, I reckon who ever started this rumour is talking a load of bollocks.
