Rest In Peace Divvy , Andrew Devine , Hillsborough
My scouse mate during college years
He took me to Anfield , I wasn't impressed , I took him to see City at Bury etc and he loved it
One of the first people to be pulled over the barriers I saw divvy in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and stuck a small ccfc welshdragon banner on his wall
Every Christmas since them I have exchanged Xmas cards with his family . He was cared for 24 7 by his devoted mother till he died
Rest in Peace Andrew Divvy Devine

Rest in Peace Andrew Divvy Devine
Another Hillsborough victim and a tragic (and avoidable) waste of a life. So sorry for your friend and his family.

Re: Rest In Peace Divvy , Andrew Devine , Hillsborough
The tragedy continues, what a loving family that lad had, R.I.P to another victim of colossal incompetence.

Re: Rest In Peace Divvy , Andrew Devine , Hillsborough
What an awful tragedy that day was which was worsened by cover up after cover up. Where was justice in the political or judicial system for the families?
To have had to have cared for your son in these circumstances for so many decades that birthed only false hope and remain sane was a superhuman effort of the human spirit.
RIP Andrew Devine
May his memory be a blessing.

Awful.
You’ve mentioned him before.
I’m sorry for your loss.

Re: Rest In Peace Divvy , Andrew Devine , Hillsborough
So sad.
I wonder how many other families are still caring for those who suffered life changing injuries on that terrible day.
I am relieved aswell that his cause of death has been recorded as unlawful, recognising the brain damage received, rather than the pneumonia (I think) he had at the end.
RIP

How many are fit and well on the outside yet inside after all these years are still thinking, ‘Why me? Why did I survive, when a mate or mates alongside them perished? Dreadful, horrible experience it must have been with so many more victims that it seems, fans with hidden turmoil, tragic.

I got the train from Manchester to Sheffield to see him
I got chatting to the taxi driver taking me to the hospital , an owls fan
Talked football , dropped me off at the hospital , went to pay him he said no chance , wished my mate luck and off he went
What a gent

Useful footballer
One of the first people I met in the student flats , bumped into him in the TV room , talked football and he was soon coming with me to city games locally
We got trounced on a Tuesday night at Bury once and he was walking around shaking everyone's hand saying I am a scouser but you are my second team , the football is crap but what a laugh I am having

Re: Rest In Peace Divvy , Andrew Devine , Hillsborough
People talk about "closure" these days, but it's not always possible is it.
RIP and condolences to Sludge and everyone else who knew Andrew Devine.

Thank you Bob
It could have happened to Cardiff City and people on here would be talking still about a uncle or brother or son or daughter or friend they had lost
