Do we really need to be paying out money for a striker ?
I don't think so
Robinson will score plenty of goals with a decent service , he's a forward who can put the ball in the net .....if people want to argue his credentials as an out and out striker then whatever
And with some confidence our current front line is capable
And there are goals in this team elsewhere from midfield and out wide
We needed Kaba but I am not sure we need to panic with regard to a fox in the box just yet

Re: Do we really need to be paying out money for a striker ?
Last year we needed Kaba as Robinson got injured and there was no-one else in the squad capable of being a target. This year, with a different style of play, better service from both the centre and out wide, and goals coming from other areas, we're doing OK as we are. We're even scoring penalties.
If we're going to spend money anywhere it should be on another Centreback.

Yes, in a word. If we sign a striker, a better version of Wintle and a right back, we'd have a really, really good side.

We have 3 forwards on our books plus Robinson
We need to give them a chance first
And if they are deemed not good enough we need to sell them and then go looking

We know what they're about. If Ugbo is starting ahead of them up top, we need another striker. Robinson should be pushing Grant out wide, that's his best role.
If we can sign a good centre forward, we absolutely should. Etete needs to go and play regular football on loan.

Agree, Ugbo doesn’t seem to get involved in the game very much

Do your homework before posting such utter drivel ffs
Robinson is not a main striker. His highest ever return is 12 and that was 5 years ago.
Moore would have buried some of those chances last night particularly the free header Grant had from 8 yards out that he somehow completely missed and it come off his shoulder.

He'd start Boland ahead of Ramsey, that's all anyone needs to know.

Well if etete is not deemed good enough by now he should be moved on
Grant , Ugbo , Miete , Etete , Robinson
How many forward players do we need ?

Re: Do we really need to be paying out money for a striker ?
Meite was instrumental in the gradual improvement in our display on Saturday, but he's yet to score for us and his bad misses at Leicester and Ipswich (which was just as easy as Grant's on Saturday) have cost us at least four points. Grant's made no difference in the end, but he looks like a player with little confidence in front of goal - only one of our three strikers is scoring (one in five if you included Etete, whose goals have come in the League Cup, and Robinson).
Based on what we've seen so far, we should sign a striker if we can in January.
-
Re: Do we really need to be paying out money for a striker ?
I think it depends on league position and availability.
The long term aim is to get promoted again. We need to be looking to bring in 5 or 6 quality younger players over the next few windows and moving at least a similar number on.
Unless we are looking to be in a relegation battle or even more unlikely a promotion push unless a player who is a long term option with a sell on value id not be just looking at a striker. January id be looking at anyone who can be part of a long term rebuild to develop a squad which can have us back challeging again. If they are not available just stick.

Agreed and Kaba would have scored loads of goals in this team.

One or two better ones.

Re: Do we really need to be paying out money for a striker ?
Id like to see Robinson play as the striker despite him being a 10.
I do not rate Ugbo at all

Kaba was crap but he was in the right place at the right time. He’s better than Ugbo mind

People say that it's crazy, you could say Andy Cole was crap he missed a lot of chances but got five times more than most players because he was ALWAYS in the right place at the right time.
Kaba knew where to be, and worked very hard, we would have many more goals and points if he was here, he would have got one or two at least at Swansea.
