Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
"Cardiff City Football Club has, with immediate effect, terminated the contract of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
The Club will not be making any further comment on the matter."
Wtf?
-
Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
And club stating no further comment to be made on the matter.
A member of the first team has his contract terminated with a year remaining. I am sure fans will be pushing for clarity as to why.

It had been noted that NML had binned his social media accounts in recent weeks. So one can only assume it's a personal matter.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
He's deleted his social media, and the club have known about it for a while. I wonder if it's a police matter?

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
The Beeb are saying it's a "breach of contract", not that it's much to go on.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
WTF think fans deserve a bit more than he's gone, no further comment. You haven't got to go into the exact details but surely can say it's a disciplinary issue, it's by mutual consent due to personal reasons, whatever.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated

My prediction: He didn't want to play for us and went about it the wrong way.

Yes, this clearly has been a possibility at least for some time. Also the fact that he hasn't been seen in pre-season.

Re: Mendez Laing Contract Terminated
Im going with he is facing criminal charges.

Not mutual consent according to WOL. Club decision.

To be fair to the club, they seem to have a tight ship these days, I remember the old (original) carl updates were pretty spot on, the fact the first anyone is hearing of this is from a club statement is unusual in these times of social media.
All our signings the last few years have been a surprise also.

Why ? The club have acted decisively and quickly which is good. They have already taken steps to replace him. They wouldn't just tear up the contract of a senior first team player without good reason and therefore you have to believe that we will be better off without him.

No one is saying its not the right decision by the club. It may or not be.
But losing him weakens the squad.
