Re: what a ridiculous idea
Wind-up, shirley?
Or maybe Boris doesn't understand the metric system
Re: what a ridiculous idea
A gimick to appeal to a certain type of Tory voter

We have never gone completely metric.
The road signs are still shown as miles not kilometres.
Expressing ones weight is usually stones and pounds.
Joe blogs is "six foot two".
We might as well go the whole hog and go back to imperial
Re: what a ridiculous idea
I don't think they're suggesting we revert to the old systems, just that people can use it if they want to.
Re: what a ridiculous idea
I doubt we'll change back to buying petrol or diesel in gallons though.
Re: what a ridiculous idea
Its not prescriptive it’s just allowing a choice.
Most will continue to work in metric and imperial will die out within a few generations
I can see why the regulation came in but this is a hullabaloo about nothing
Re: what a ridiculous idea
Can we go back to using actual cash as well, youngsters might not get into debt then, when they’re spending real money

No, card is spending what you can’t afford.
I was brought up, if you can’t afford it, you save up for it
Re: what a ridiculous idea
I have no idea how tall I am in metres. I know I'm 5ft 11.
I know how far 100 miles is but don't in Kilometres. Also the premier inn in putney is 1000 yards to craven cottage, don't ask me what that is in new money.
I glad he's reverting back as for me it never went.

Have you ever heard of a debit card?
It’ll change your life

As Splott Parker has pointed out numerous times, if you go out with say £60 in your pocket, when £60 is spent, you go home.
If you go out with a debit card, you will most probably carry on spending.

He has asked why, he’s made his views quite plain to the club.

He didn't relay that in his reply. So, he asked the club why, and the either couldn't tell him why or just ignored him?

Do you need decimals??
TV inches
Burger Qtr pounder (pounds)
I'm´! like i've said before 1000% sure that if you went back to pounds shillings and pennies a pint would cost half a sixpence
instead of the ten euros you are paying today

You still can not use cash in Starbucks
the manager ( also the franchisee ) of my local one said he has been told head office has made sounds about never going back to accepting cash
