Welsh Punk 76-85

I've recently been getting more and more into the history of Punk in Wales and found that there's not a lot of sources online. Just trying to get a list of bands and records and thought you lot could be a fountain of knowledge

So name me some bands. For now, I only want bands that made a recording. I want to know where they are from and what they recorded.

The Abnormal were from around that time period. Nick and Dave Sheldon were singer and drummer respectively and produced Watch the Bluebirds Fly fanzine also. Cynon valley-ish I think.

Having followed the punk scene from the early days i honestly can't think of one band that remotely made any waves from Wales on the music scene.Reality was unless bands were playing the London scene the music press hardly wanted to know.

No Choice were predominantly Llanedeyrn boys, well at least 2 of them were.

Lot of bands there but were any of them signed to any good management/labels? Can't say i've heard of any material by any of them.

From my memory, there were The Mirrors from Newport and The Table from Cardiff.

A couple might have only recorded a demo but 95% of them released a record or appeared on a compilation.

Fila, I always assumed they were a Barry band. I'll change that.

NYCBlue, possible sketchy far right sympathies means no.

I saw The Mirrors as support at the Top Rank sometime in 77-ish. Possibly as support to The Saints in September '77??

In Llantwit Major , at that time, we had two bands that were punk 'ish and either did record or starting putting down tapes.
The Flying Brix and Rebel Truce.
Nothing much ever became of either outside gigs in and around the Vale although someone mentioned that members of the Brix were playing again

The Oppressed were a anti-fascist skinhead band.
Roddy Moreno is the frontman.
Band still gigging but not original lineup.

I used to go hunt sabbing with The Icons of Filth, particularly the bass player Richard Edwards who was from the Hengoed area and whose grand-father ran the bakery in nearby Ystrad Mynach - Trevor the Baker. They were a bunch of punk/psychobilly boys. I didn't know anything about far right sympathies. Are you sure?
