Bridge, the card game, not a sport ruling...
I can understand the likes of darts and snooker having a go at being labelled sports, but bridge, hope they had the decency to blush when they made their application. Obviously there's a financial incentive in gaining sport status.

Recognition of bridge as a sport would have exempted the EBU from paying VAT on entry fees to tournaments.
It called the ruling "surprising and disappointing " and said it will affect how widely bridge is played in the UK.

It's a very good card game, not a sport, IMHO.
I used to play regularly at uni and for a few years after, but can't find three other people who play these days.
I've probably forgotten half the rules by now.
