I can genuinely say whilst Newcastle fans are somewhat deluded (believe they should be in Europe) after going up there for the Carling Cup when we won 2-1 I do believe they probably have the most passionate and best fans in the country.
Even then they’re nothing on the support of the German clubs such as Dortmund.
Which clubs have the best fans, and why hasn’t ours historically received the support it could?
For a bottom of the league side, a 12:30 KO and an 11.5 hour round trip Sunderland's support at CCS in January was excellent so thought.

How do you define "best" with reference to football fans?
Celtic by a mile. You may not like their politics but a bunch of bigots like Rangers they're not

What about the fans of the likes of Tranmere, who’ve stuck by them in the shadow of the two giants on their doorstep. Same goes for clubs like Accrington, Rochdale etc

It's all relative but I also subscribe to the small club / big club same city. I lived in Stoke for a year or so and prefered the Port Vale fans over the Stokies every time.
