Seems harsh, they do seem to be a basket case of a club.

The link doesn't mention a sacking just an appointment.
Does Bowen know?
Reminds me a bit of the time when Richie Morgan was moved upstairs, after going on a good run, only to be replaced by Graham William's who lost something like 8 games on the trot.
Just about as undignified as his arrival

Ooooooooh a ideal chance to play the song
Strange, I've not heard that one in the charts......or ever. We can see why, it's truly embarrassing. i managed half of it but had to switch it off.
I'd struggle to name half the managers in the championship at the moment. Probably knew most if not all until our year long excursion away, come back and all change. Still not quite caught up.
Another obscure appointment from Reading FC. They will never learn.
Jim Bowen ?
From Bullseye?
The show will never be the same again
Legend !
Used to be a football reporter that covered Reading. Remember getting called in by the woman owner who came up with this song to play it to me and a different journalist. Had to sit there and keep a straight face then tell her it wasn’t too bad at all whilst knowing it was going to go viral for being absolutely dreadful. Felt sorry for her really but shouldn’t have done with the millions she was worth :hehe:
It’s bizarre timing, changing the manager so close to the new season.
Bowen has not gone back upstairs - he has left the building!

We can confirm that Mark Bowen has departed Reading Football Club.
Having stepped away from his position as First Team Manager a few days ago, Bowen was offered a new role within the Royals’ restructure, but after careful consideration he has chosen to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.
As manager, Mark successfully steered the club away from the threat of relegation last season, coming through the final nine games of the 2019-20 campaign when the season finally resumed after lockdown in June, to achieve a 14th-placed finish in the Championship.
Owner Mr Dai Yongge said, “I would like to thank Mark for the hard work he put in as manager and the commitment he showed to our first team affairs before, during and after football’s lockdown situation. I would like to wish him well in his future endeavours.”
A bit naughty from Reading. he did well for them, took a pay cut during the Covid-19 crisp and then gets shafted. He'll be better off without them. I'm putting money on them going down next season.
'A state of utter chaos' - Reading FC fans react as Bowen departs club:
