1966 World Cup TV film now in colour
Just seen an ITV interview with Geof Hurst in which he states that original TV film of the Cup Final has recently been discovered, and colourized. Clips shown looked most realistic.
I was a little surprised that this is such big news as I saw the film 'Goal' in the cinema which was a colour film of the match on the big screen.
As a side point, I find it interesting that so many seem to want to colourize films like this. I colourize old B&W photos, going to some pains to create authentic images. But there are several folk who still prefer to see B&W photos.

I might be wrong, as I'm old and the gray matter is not working up to speed, but I'm sure it was shown in colour, LIVE at cinemas
Please confirm somebody.

Your memory is partly correct. It was broadcast to some cinemas, but in B&W as it was a projection of the TV stream.
