House prices
According to Savills (The estate agency) house prices when the Queen ascended to the throne in 1952 were just under £2000, this is the equivalent of £56,000 today. The average house price in Wales is £206,000, the average house price in the UK is £277,000.
It seems to me and a lot of people my age that systematically things are just getting worse and worse, and I'm saying this as someone who has benefitted from house price increases. I feel for younger ones trying to get on the property ladder now.

Re: House prices
Successive governments have failed to build more houses. Policy from both sides has failed.
Saying that, regulation and safety must create higher build costs today, than 70 years ago. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but after ww2 there was a huge build program which must have driven costs per house right down.
