mon dieu - taking the oath
Just read an article about Quebec "MPs" (refusing to swear allegiance to Charles.
Made me think of some Irish MPs that refuse to sit in the Houses of Parliament. Is it because they don't want to sit or is it as a consequence of refusing allegiance ? Or is it something else?
Re: mon dieu - taking the oath
Sinn Fein dont sit in Parliament.
Bobby Sands was elected as an MP while on hunger strike. Dont think he was under Sinn Fein though think it was a protest group.

It is because they will not swear allegiance to the British monarch. Goes back 105 years to first by election victory in 2017.

He stood as "Anti H-Block/Armagh Political Prisoner" - not as a Sinn Fein candidate.
