I would keep VAR for diving and faking injury
It's the worst part of the game
Individual mistakes by referees on offside etc are human errors
The attempt to win a penalty , get an opponent sent off is not a mistake its a calculated decision and not an error
I would ban them on video evidence

To lose a game to a ref making a mistake isn't great but it's the way it is
But to have someone deliberately cheat to gain advantage is the pits
You will never stop human error
And you will never stop cheats but it can be drastically reduced if players on var or retrospective evidence are banned
Rugby authorities cite players weeks later for foul play and ban them
Re: I would keep VAR for diving and faking injury
Agree with the above, I thought that they were meant to review the games and seek out players who dived and ban them like in rugby. link below, so what actually happened to that?

I agree. I'd gladly see a player banned for 2-3 games for blatent dives. I think it's appalling

Blatant, yes, where there is absolutely no contact.
Re: I would keep VAR for diving and faking injury
Have VAR and no referee or a referee and no VAR.

No if there is contact and a player over eggs the effect and does a drama performance then that's cheating too
Ban

But often things like that are down to opinion. There are grey areas with this. Not to you, I know. You expect a player to be scythed down and just get up and give a handshake.

That's very rare
It's the diving after little or no contact that needs stamping out
