The "Transport Interchange"
My first experience of this on Wednesday night.
How late and overbudget was this corridor of zero information?
Why don't all city centre buses run through it?
Why is the National Express bus station a marathon hike away? Isn't the clue to creating a sensible set of links in the word "interchange"?
Fiasco.
Re: The "Transport Interchange"
The National Express terminus at Sophia Gardens is a disgrace. Have alighted there a few times at night, no fleet of taxis meaning the walk in the dark through the Gardens along the Taff is decidedly dodgy.

Wasn't there a murder very close to there a couple of years back?

When the previous bus station was open, not all city centre buses ran into it back then.
National Express have chosen to remain at Sophia Gardens, rather than use the new bus station. They've got all the facilities they need there. Blame them for not using the new facility.
Re: The "Transport Interchange"
Maybe wait until the whole 'interchange is finished and then judge.
There's still more Cardiff Bus services to start using it. I also noticed adverts saying that Stagecoach will be using it in the new year aswell. The whole interchange isn't just the new bus station.
Re: The "Transport Interchange"
The longer without a bus station the more I felt one wasn't necessary.
Only benefit I thought would be if the national services went there a bit like Victoria.
Otherwise the centre is compact enough where it's fairly simple to work out where you need to get a bus from.

Stagecoach is already using it for the 122 and the 124.

To an extent I agree, though getting to and from Central station can't be easy for those with mobility issues.
Agreed that it would be better if Nat Ex went from there but then again Digbeth coach station is hardly in the best of locations.

Digbeth is fine, it’s indoor, has a cafe, toilets etc. Out of the main entrance, turn right there’s a couple of decent cafes as well. Had to change there on the way back from Manchester a year or two back, our bus was late and we missed the Cardiff connection, even though it was late evening the National Express office was open. They issued us with pre paid rail tickets from New St to Cardiff. There’d be no bugger around should that situation arise at Sophia Gardens. Not good if it’s pissing down either.
