Nirvana did come out of nowhere.

It's an interesting watch because they were still an underground band touring the UK & Europe when the Nevermind album began to takeoff in the US. The album entered the Billboard 200 Album charts at a lowly 144 in late September 1991, before rising steadily and finally reaching the top spot on 11 Jan 1992.
