Is it just me, or is some of this stuff a bit like rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic?

What a shock, those running the consistently worst parts of the club didn’t turn up. Sums up their contributions to the club.

So no Whittingham statue then

I know it's not the most important discussion in there, but it's absolutely shocking that the championship clubs cannot agree on an away ticket price cap, even at £30 which is itself the same as the premier league cap so should be lower.

Interesting also to hear that 12.30 games have impacted attendances

Agreed. They are so out of touch with the public.

Sometimes I wonder if their plan is to encourage everyone to subscribe to tv services, so they don’t have the hassle of catering for them on match days.

When my sons were playing, kids football was always a 10.30 ko on a Saturday morning,

Maybe next year the club could approach the local leagues to get a 9.00am KO with the incentive of cheap kids tickets?

There’s always ways of fostering good relationships with junior football clubs, including players doing a coaching session or two at local teams.

If the kids want to go, then that usually means at least one parent is attending

I’m sure they’ll be a comment about who you wouldn’t want turning up, but in reality anything that is going to help boost attendance has to be worth thinking about?

There arent enough pitches in Cardiff. Matches do start at 9 but there are so many teams / age groups that they need to play all morning.

My god, these sorts of ideas are far, far too well thought out for Cardiff City.

I know it was a bonkers period in our history, but Rick Wright brought exactly this sort of perspective on the future lifeblood of the club.

Get the kids excited and involved. Get them passionate and feeling like they are part of the club.

It costs peanuts but reaps dividends in the future.

Yea my son's u8s are 9am starts, then as we are leaving the next age group is coming in.

Those minutes don’t strike strike me as containing much consultation, just statements. I know it’s a difficult topic but the subject of addressing diminishing crowds (other than the shit football) didn’t come across with the priority I’d expect (in these minutes at least).

Clubs can try every idea under the sun to try and boost home attendances, but nothing works better than a team/squad that play attractive football and give 100% on the pitch.

Not directly related maybe, but I've noticed that Bradford have been getting some incredible crowds in League Two lately.

These are their last three:

18,845 v Tranmere
23,381 v Colchester
22,214 v Crewe

Here is a chart showing the demographics of Cardiff.

As you can see there's a huge bump in the 18-24 age group - due to Cardiff being a moderately sized city with 2 large universities.

I think the club should be doing a lot more to attract students while they are studying here.

The club had the £99 season ticket for students when I was back at Uni 6/7 years ago. Students knew about it but just weren't interested, they all have their own teams. Would've been the equivalent of me going to Reading Uni and going to watch Reading, that just wouldn't have happened.


You'll get a few going to one or two games, but you aren't ever fostering life long fans via the Universities.

It was a long time ago with my lads and I guess things have moved on a bit since then

A minor thing but the poor punctuation and lack of capital letters really annoyed me.

The club should do a lot more to get kids in, especially younger fans and make them lifelong supporters. I'd rather we gave shedloads of tickets to primary school kids each week, its not like the tickets are being sold anyway

Yeah I agree many students already have a team from their hometown, or one of the big clubs, so not many are interested in going down the city - but that could be changed

I know a Derby big derby fan, who got a Cardiff season ticket when he was here, as though it was the natural thing to do. I'm sure that could be encouraged with a fairly minimal effort from the club.

I went to uni in Manchester and I love football, I went to the Etihad and OT maybe twice? If I'm not going to go, you're not going to attract many. Tickets were dirt cheap too but I wanted to go to the pub with my mates or play football rather than watch two teams I don't care about

yeah they do do a bit of that, my kids went once with their football team.
They got to meet some of the players too and had selfies etc which they absolutely loved. They were far more interested in getting autographs and selfies than watching the actual football.

They should do a lot more though I agree.

Yeah, the club should really make an effort to attract part of the population who will mostly move away from Cardiff after a few years. That's a great idea.

Most clubs will say the same. Most clubs have a couple of unis close to them. Swansea Bristol etc..... Cardiff isn't unique.

I bet Most clubs fail.

Your best bet with students is one off big promotion nights. Give them all the top tier for a tenner including a pie and pint or something.
