Omer Riza post Stoke comments

“I’m disappointed. Disappointed for the fans, disappointed for the Club that we weren’t able to get what we needed, which was three points. We tried to go for it as much as we could, but we didn’t create enough clear-cut moments.

"The biggest chance fell to Isaak [Davies], and it could’ve gone in the back of the net and then we’re ahead with Stoke chasing. We have to deal better with first and second balls into the box. Although it’s a clear handball by Ashley Phillips, we have to deal with it better. It’s very disappointing, and we have four massive games to go, like they have been over the last ten games.

“It was always going to be a cagey game, and there were moments in the first half where we couldn’t apply the press the way we wanted to because they manipulated the ball well. We didn’t create enough when we had the ball, and that was disappointing.

"In the second half we went out to try and win the game. We went with as many attacking options as we could, but moments in games are key, and we’ve lost because of a basic moment that we have to deal with.

“We’ve still got four games to play and twelve points to play for, albeit they are tough games,” Omer concluded. “But if you’re going to get promoted you’ve got to win games, and it’s the same if you want to stay up. If we’re going to do it, we have to do it, it’s as simple as that. If we don’t, then the writing will be on the wall.

"We haven’t done enough today, but Sheffield United have lost their last three games and need to win, so we have to go there and try and win, and we will go there with belief.”

"It was a difficult game for many reasons. We both found ourselves in a precarious position and it is difficult after a three-game week.

"That made it the type of game it was - a lot of sloppy play and a lot of things you normally wouldn't expect from either team.

"People were losing their footing, passes were going astray and players making decisions they don't normally make.

"But we ended up with a clean sheet, a goal and three points and that is essentially what it was about. We've got to take it and really enjoy it - this is an experience we have come through and we will learn from it and use it to galvanise us.

Leaving most of the above part, there certainly were a lot of players slipping over during the game

Yes retreating into our own half when stoke have the ball doesn't really signal we have gone for it. Standard for us though, our closing down all season has been half hearted at best.

Wouldn't be so bad if we actually could then defend but even when sitting deeper the opposition still seem to get in behind us.

To me the line about going with as many attacking options as he could in the second half shows how woefully out of his depth he is. I guess it's better than the bollocks he was spouting a couple weeks ago about shapes and boxes but I'm not sure his approach to lineups and players have ever been more than throw a bunch of players on in various positions and hope it works out. If need goal throw on more wingers. If need opposition less goal throw on more defensive midfielders.

Controversial opinion maybe but I'd rather have kept Bulut even after his crap start, I don't think he's a good manager but I do think he at least had some idea of what his first choice team was and how he wanted to play. Riza you get the sense is on YouTube before each training session looking at random breakdowns of other people's tactics.

Well at the time most I think had run out of patience with Bulut.

However if it was known for sure that his managerial inexperienced assistant would just be left in charge then maybe not everyone would have gone for it at that time.

Football under Bulut had become beyond stale and inefficient, however I struggle to see how we could have done much worse under him.

Ultimately the club just needed to go out and get someone that knew what he was doing, particularly as it was already shaping to be a season of struggle.

Bulut's style of football was killing our support.
After those first seven games, I'd already decided I'd not go to a game until he was gone .

The truth of the matter is Bulut was shit and should not have had another go and whether it was ineptness or laziness they went with him then when they got rid of him they did the same with Riza.
So it falls at Tan Dalman and Choos feet.
