I'm wondering if this claim is really true. It's mathematically possible for us to overtake Norwich, but is it possible for all the teams currently in 14th to 21st to get enough points to overtake them as well?

Saw that too, multiple clubs were listed at 0% probability so assume mathematically possible but out of the realm of realistic possibility.

69% chance of us going down, feels a bit low given our current form. Derby the only other team with more than 10% chance.

For example, Derby would have to win all their remaining games, which means that Hull would have to win their remaining three games that aren't against Derby.

Even if it’s not true it gives an indication of why the Championship is much interesting than the closed shop that is the premier league.

That's a matter of opinion and many millions disagree.

These days, the Championship is interesting primarily because it remains kind of competitive, but the football itself is mostly garbage.

Haven't seen any League One games this season. I'm guessing the standard is technically lower, but the truth is the standard in the Championship has dropped significantly this season and games are often stupidly boring. I don't know why I watch so many of them to be honest.

I've become bored of City playing the same bunch of clubs year in, year out, so the prospect of a season or two in League One doesn't fill me with dread. Maybe it could prove more entertaining than the last few seasons in the Championship have. I doubt it could be much more boring.

Yeah hard to disagree. Something has to give and hopefully relegation will spark changes.

Whether good or bad it almost doesn't matter now. More of this nothingness is the worst of all worlds.

I'm not convinced the changes will even be good but should hopefully make things more interesting.

I have a very good mate who is a Bolton season ticket holder, he says the general standard in league 1, Birmingham aside , is awful and he’s desperate to get back to the Championship but they’ve been stuck down there for quite some time now

Whether it's a season or two, or a decade or two, depends on selecting a decent Manager, so my expectations are very low.

I reckon the manager is one of our lesser problems. The total and utter ineptitude of our board and owner is a far greater issue. Pep would struggle to get a tune out of our lot.

The grass is always greener - they've won 20+ games the last 4 seasons and probably averaging something in the 70s in terms of points - with 87 points last year and 86 goals scored.

Even if the standard is a bit lower, I wou;dn't mind that kind of a run even if we didn't go straight back up.

I appreciate though that there would be some on here hating every moment of it, but we are all different I guess

I could tolerate a season or two but I do wonder if even this current squad would have enough in them to win promotion back to the Championship. We'll be going down with 2 teams who are better than us and have better managers, plus the 6 or 7 other teams down there who are seasoned and have adapted for league 1. I envy your optimism.

It could be anything in league one - we've seen plenty of players who didn't do much in the championship be top league one players. Mark Harris, Gavin Whyte, Marlon Pack et al.

Our reserve team had a very comfortable win against a league one team in the league cup, at a time we couldn't buy a win in the league.

I don't see that we would need to sell too many players to balance the books, and we have more youngsters coming through who may get more opportunities at league one level.

This "we're doomed" attitude is becoming quite funny. Absolutely no reason that, assuming we go down, the 2 other clubs who go down would be better than us? With the possible exception of Luton (if they go down) as they would have one more year of parachute payments of around £35 million, which could do some damage at league one level (assuming it isn;t all tied up in the wages of players they can't move on, like a certain other club I won't mention)

The squad would need a shake-up and especially the introduction of a few on-field leaders. Most importantly, the club will need a decent manager who understands what is required at League One level. If we get one, I think we have the basis of a squad that could give us some genuine entertainment the next level down for a season or two.

I know what people will say to that - Tan and Co can't be trusted to appoint a decent manager, and they're right - but the thing is, that will be true this summer whatever division we're in, as there's no way the current clown will be here next season.

Or he'll appoint some managerial fossil like Steve Evens, who has more than reached his sell buy date. Thus we will end up season after season in ever decreasing circles. I'm not confident that Tan will appoint the right man for next season, whatever division we are in.
