The definitive could this be damaging to ramsey future managerial prospects thread
Keep seeing this mentioned in most threads.
Lots saying ramsey must be crazy to take it on as could really damage his CV and future prospects to have our relegation on his hands. The example always used is shearer and his 4 games at Newcastle.
Personally I don't buy this.
I think we will stay up anyway now and will get 49 points as we got 2 years ago.
However if we do go down we are bottom of every table since January. We were dead and buried under riza. I can't see how us going down (which could actually be confirmed in 6 days time even if we win tomorrow) damages ramsey long term?

Probably won't damage him, its a win-win really. If we go down its clearly not his fault, if he keeps us up he looks like a hero and cements his status as a fan favourite
I think he's probably sensible enough not to take the job on full time next season should we stay up, especially with his ambition to play at the World Cup

No one could blame Ramsey if we go down on his watch, I reckon it's a free hit for him

Re: The definitive could this be damaging to ramsey future managerial prospects thread
Listen IF we go down NO BLAME AT ALL to be attributed to Rambo fair play to him for stepping up and trying to save the club he loves actually shows he’s got the balls to have a go could have quite easily passed off the chance to save us
RAMBO every Cardiff fan will always thank you for your effort to have a go mate
C’mon Rambo and c’mon CITY:wales::thumbup:

I agree, nobody could or should blame Ramsey if he fails to keep the club in the Championship in three games as a caretaker manager or whatever title they have given him.
However, as far as I’m concerned, he can definitely take his share of the blame as a player. He made just eight Championship appearances, City didn’t win any of those games and he was generally poor.

Did you see the game ramsey played for wales in bellamy first game?
Think it was turkey and was 0 0. His finishing let him down but he could have scored a couple and made lots happen.
Bellamy had a clear idea and a belief of what to do with him that was obvious within minutes of watching. Ramsey also seemed to be enjoying himself up top and not dropping deeper and deeper to get the ball. The difference was huge.
Hard to believe that was this season it feels so long ago to see him playing like that.

I agree if he took it on full time that would almost certainly be damaging to him and I'd be amazed if he did that under tan.

It really is a roll of the dice but hats off to him for having a go.
Like everyone has said, it’s a free hit for him, definitely. I really hope he does well, because surely his playing career is over.
Its great he wants to play in the World Cup but who gives him a playing contract?

Um maybe he keeps us up, gets the job full time and gives himself a playing contract?

I was all swept up in the romance and feel good factor of Rambo returning to City. I'm a right miserable, cynical cuunt but the thought of Rambo strutting about in a blue shirt got me all excited. Let's be fair, it's been a shiit show, I know fully expect him to win all three games, lead City to safety by playing expansive football only to be replaced with the under 21s manager of FC Augsburg and City get relegated next season.

It's a few games...a shite squad. What could be damaged

I feel for those that didn't, it was the best thing that we've done in about 4 seasons :hehe:

I wonder if that’s the deal. Keep city up and he gets his playing contract renewed?
He wants to keep going and I don’t see many takers elsewhere

Doesn't he have another year option in his contract regardless?

I’m probably wrong but Isn’t it normally the clubs choice in that type of contract?

That’s never been reported anywhere as far as I can see. Every report when he signed said a two-year contract and some more recent reports mention the contract expiring this summer.
I hope that’s the case and common sense prevails, but this is Cardiff City we’re talking about.

If Ramsey manages to keep us up we should change the name of the club to Ramsdiff City and declare war on Stoke.

We can do that regardless to be honest, Ramsey or not

Re: The definitive could this be damaging to ramsey future managerial prospects thread
Externally I don't think it will do any damage to his long term aspirations, if that's indeed something he is interested in beyond this.
I don't think it's without some risk though, if we are beyond awful in these final matches it's not as if he will then have Bellamy level of Messiah amongst city fans. His face would also be associated with the relegation a bit more than if he was just injured. I have no idea how many matches shearer had at Newcastle but it was his face I remember looking all sad when they went down.
Also it may completely put him off :hehe:
I'm hoping it will be mostly a positive experience and fair play to him for taking it on, it's not something he had to do.
