It feels like an old friend has passed away after a terminal illness.
Watching the scenes from the Racecourse was some very small consolation after our sad demise today. Watching their owners joyful celebration showed just how far off the mark we've become. We all knew it was coming and in some ways it brings closure. Ctrl Alt Del asap and the Bluebirds to rise from the ashes.

I can only assume you’ve never had a friend who’s passed away.

As I'm now in my 70's quite a few.

I get what you mean, haven't been this down since my dog had to be put down at the end of last year.

Had a hell of a row with the misses. She just doesn't get it.
It'll take me till the new season starts to get over this.
This love in with Wrexham makes a bad situation worse.

Re: It feels like an old friend has passed away after a terminal illness.
Our football team has (probably) temporarily gone down one league and we'll be watching them play football against different teams next year. It is absolutely nothing like an old friend dying of a terminal illness.

ok yes agree but i feel pretty upset with how a club which i've supported since the mid 60's is such a mess. of course the club is not a person but it still evokes a lot of feeling and emotion.

We'll be back mate, I don't like the fact that we're going down but the prospect of another season of struggle in the Championship isn't much more enticing than the prospect of a refresh in L1 to be honest

Not sure what a refresh is exactly, this is a football club not a web page. There is every chance that next season could be equally as bad or even worse than this one.

Re: It feels like an old friend has passed away after a terminal illness.
I’m 29 and none of my friends are dead yet, but if this is what it feels like then people dying isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.
It’s a football club, we will all be back.

Re: It feels like an old friend has passed away after a terminal illness.
It's all cyclical.
Without days like today you don't get those 2003 Andy Campbell moments.
To be fair to the club and all involved I was well prepared for this, given us months to get used to the idea. Years if you want to think of the longer trend.

Re: It feels like an old friend has passed away after a terminal illness.
Had we gone down under Lamouchi the year Reading’s point deduction sent them down, I’d have felt a lot worse.
But it’s just felt inevitable now and had we scraped survival I’m not sure what to look forward to next season.
I’m disappointed but hesitantly looking forward to something new.

We’ve won just nine games this season. Nine. And we’re rock bottom of the Championship.
Do you seriously believe this time next year we’ll have won nine games or less and will be rock bottom of League One?

Not literally only 9 wins but there seems 2 schools of thought amongst us and it could go either way. An enjoyable bounce back or a continuing plummet. I wouldn’t like to call it as we stand.
Away from ourselves, I could see Southampton in league 1 in one years time, others may think they will walk the Championship. Time will tell.

The last time City got relegated from the second tier they followed it up the next season with dropping down to the fourth.
I don't see another relegation awaiting but the structure, management and decision making don't fill me with confidence.
They've had a number of seasons to put right City's downward trajectory and slide into League One and totally cocked it up.
More of the same is definitely a possibility.

i don't, but we are a club on the slide, not one player is performing, that's incredible in itself, absolutely no improvement from any of them, they're actually going backwards. So unless these clowns sort out the recruitment and a structure of good coaching staff who can actually make a difference, instead of employing utter clowns who get their badges paid for them, qualify, and somehow think that they know what they're doing when they're just thick ****ing footballers with zero awareness, then we're ****ed. And ship out as many of thee loser footballers as we possibly can, every one of them a loser, no conviction, no bottle, no fight and a lack of ability.

How anyone draws any comfort from Disney fc's promotion is totally beyond me.

Maybe a distant relative? Similar feeling to the Blackpool playoff final maybe….think I just gave a sh*t a bit more back then as that early summer was ruined…..

Re: It feels like an old friend has passed away after a terminal illness.
Personally it hasn’t bothered me as much as I thought it would.
Avoided football for the last fortnight and didn’t go Saturday in case this happened.
The good feeling will come back but not unless there’s some green shoots of progress
