Does our owner want a swift return to the Championship ?
I'm not sure. Despite his statement last week I doubt he as any genuine affinity for the club nowadays and the same to a degree with Choo and Dalman. He's been pumping close to a £million a month into the club and seen a truly dreadful squad assembled at vastly over-inflated wages and fees. He can now sell those players who can command a fee, move out as many senior pros as possible, and trim the wage bill by, what, 50% ? If we maintain our league 1 status we'll possibly just lose a couple of £million a year, not £12 million, and unless you believe the 'I kick every ball' comment, as someone who hasn't visited 'his' club in 4yrs I doubt it will bother him in the slightest. He'll continue the Sala saga through the courts etc. and no doubt look to see when that's all done and dusted..

Well both his clubs have been relegated this season, no idea what’s going through his mind or what he gets from owning 2 football clubs that are run badly!
Re: Does our owner want a swift return to the Championship ?
You'd think he would want to get out with as much money as possible, so he'd want to sell the club in as high a position as he can probably get us. But then again, he may just want to cut his losses and may look to sell when the Sala cases have been resolved, but when will that be?

I can't think that someone 7,000 miles away who has only visited the club[s] a handful of times in the past 5 years has any interest at all. At least in league 1 it won't be as much a financial drain as in the Championship

Not great imo

Tan is going to lose money if we're not in the Premier League.
He's a moron, it doesn't get much more simple than that. That's the only reason morons like Choo and Deboys are still here. He's not asset stripped, either. He's not built anything that he promised though

You can sell a business but retain the economic rights to the proceeds from a court case, it's not that complicated.

Are the economic rights in Cardiff City’s name or Vincent Tan’s name though?
Re: Does our owner want a swift return to the Championship ?
Well he needs to treat Cardiff as a championship club whilst in league 1.

Agreed, Birmingham just showed how easy it can be if you get the squad, Manager, and planning right.

We need some leaders and fighters too, since Warnock, we've become weaker and weaker every season and lack any genuine fight.

Yes, the standard of ‘competitor’ we are getting in is woeful.

CCFC's, presumably. But that doesn't matter. It is pretty simple to create a right for the current shareholder to receive those proceeds, and for that right to exist beyond a sale. I've done that before where a business had become basically worthless and was heavily indebted. The debt was bought by a fund who effectivey took ownership from that point, but we carved out a right for the previous owners to recieve a payment equal to the proceeds of a fairly significant court case. It isn't always particularly tax-efficient depending on where the parties are based, but it can be done.

In his BBC interview (linked in the other thread), Peter Ridsdale revealed that Birmingham spent more in transfer fees during 2024/25 than Preston have during the last decade.
