Bradford City Fire BBC Two , 9 pm
Re: Bradford City Fire BBC Two , 9 pm
Really powerful documentary and absolutely tragic that poor lady who lost a husband and two children.
I never grew up with the disaster but can just remember Hillsborough, which always took up more news space afterwards. I must admit I never knew why so many died as I was aware there were no fences so you just assume nearly everyone can get out, but of course many went down to get out the exits, that weren't open

Grim wasn't it ?
Doesn't get the press coverage Hillsborough does possibly because the causes of it and investigation were clearer and it had a less sinister follow up
Both awful of course

Horrible. Probably the worst thing I have ever witnessed on TV.

There was a guy doing some investigation into the causes a while back, and they were looking into the owner of Bradford at the time, who had several other businesses burn down previously - there's a chance it could have been equally sinister

I very much doubt it
Heginbotham was hopeless rather than criminal
It was a tragedy

8 of his other businesses burnt down in the previous 18 years, resulting in huge insurance payouts.

Well the evidence from the enquiry says a discarded cigarette caused decades of rubbish to catch fire
If what happened was criminal then that's for the victims families to process

Its too late now, all of the evidence is long gone, but it does seem pretty suspicious to say the least.

Such a harrowing but fascinating documentary. I guess it's never had the publicity that other disasters have had because the enquiry was held soon after, and everyone accepted thr verdict.
Can't see how fires at previous businesses have any bearing on the cause of this. There's a massive difference between some warehouse fires, and a full wooden football stand with few means of escape.

That's the considered view
