Thanks for posting this.
Just watched it, well worth a watch. Another who thought we had enough to stay up (I wonder if he would have thought the same if he'd seen a few more of our games?), but, it sounds like he knew the writing was on the wall with four games to go.
get him back involved with the club!
That was a good interview. Dave Jones used to be criticised for being a bit dour, but he displayed a dry sense of humour during that interview. Talking of how he often had to deal with players' problems - he said Nathan Blake was the unluckiest player and how he felt really sorry for him... had 5 grandparents die in the one year while at Wolves. Jones said "Why didn't he just ask me for time off to back to Wales"? (said with a straight face and then a cheeky grin broke out)! :hehe: He came across as quite pragmatic too.
That was good, although I do think you have to take a lot of the stories in these podcasts with a pinch of salt. For instance, Jones tells a good tale in this one about taking Craig Bellamy off with an hour gone while he was on a hat-trick, and blaming Bellamy's fitness guru for doing that. Problem is Bellamy never scored two goals in a game for City...
In my 48 yrs of “going down the City” , the Dave Jones tenure has been my favourite period.
He had his shortcomings, and was always a bit dour, but his teams played some of the best football I’ve seen at the club
What he went through with his court case would make anyone bitter.
The season where we needed 1 point from the last 4 games was unforgivable, but he got us to our 1st FA cup final in 81 yrs and we missed out on the Premier league by a whisker.
If anything can make Eric return from his flounce it’s a thread praising DJ….
