Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?

It's safe to say this with no TLG around, but been saying for years - the PL more often than not is boring. Thanks Pep.

It’ll be interesting to see how this next deal pans out - Sky have spent a fortune on the next 4 years whilst their subscription numbers are falling.
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
215 live Sky games, Man City, Liverpool, ManU will feature in 50 each, and the other 65 between the rest.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of bastards.
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
How much of that drop is down to everyone getting chipped firesticks these days?
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
I'm not sure why there should be any concern on any front (unless you are a shareholder).
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
I am guessing that is just those who subscribe to sky sports.
Sky is losing money hand over fist. Murdough could see the writing was on the wall for satellite/cable and got out at the top.
I have the sky puck and it's fair enough, but it no different from any other streaming service and that's where the future is.
The Premier League/EFL needs to have their subscription service, make it about £10 a month and go all in on advertising for the real revenue.

👍 100%

There’s too much of it, a lot of it is dull, and it’s far too expensive.

Power to us dodgy stick viewers. 💪

Basically this
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
You reap what you sow. It's hard to muster up any sympathy for Sky/Comcast.
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
Does this account for all the chipped boxes?
Re: Premier League viewing figures - a cause for concern?
It'll be a concern for Sky and other broadcasters.
They've moved from the tag line of it being 'the best league in the world' to 'the most exciting league in the world' which, this year, was a struggle to justify.
Saturation and making the top of the league almost unreachable for most clubs, doesn't make it look an attractive product.

I doubt thats what's causing the drop as viewing figures are calculated by a sample of 5000 houses, not by a total count of everyone watching everything.
That should make football bosses even more worried, as even a crackdown on chipped boxes won't make a difference to the decline in viewers.

It will make football fairer as many players only come here for the money.

That is the way to go. Frankly I can't sit down and watch Liverpool vs Arsenal I have no interest whatsoever. If I was offerred a Cardiff City season ticket I would happily pay £30 a game
