Another user said it was "disgraceful", adding: "Must be lovely for our Welsh women footballers, walking in Tesco and seeing the England women's team."
Hopefully not too traumatic for them, they see them again next month!
Someone putting that up though must have thought, this is probably going to upset a few Karen's, is it worth it.
I don't know, maybe stick some Welsh merch or Welsh cakes next to it at least.

Is it so bad to think shops in Wales should support the Welsh team as opposed to their group opponents?

Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
it was annoying and they fixed it, that's all. No need for huge heartfelt apologies about offending. Don't do it again.

Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
Pretty tonedeaf, it's a bit like selling Jacks merchandise in the Cardiff City Centre. Just asking for trouble even if some won't care.
-
Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
Tonedeaf etc, and clearly lots of people in Tesco's marketing department who aren't very smart.
But anyone who finds it deeply offensive needs to give their head a wobble.

It's probably a case of individuals not being able to articulate themselves particularly well, read Tripadvisor and you will see hundreds of people writing off an entire holiday because on one occasion at Breakfast, their coffee wasn't hot enough or the waiter didn't smile enough for their liking, or 20 photos of a bit of dust on top of the wardrobe, followed by statements saying that this place should be shut down, it's not fit for purpose etc. Take the lack of balance away from the comments (Something the media wont do) and it's just downright disrespectful of Tesco in my opinion, This isn't England. I'm glad they took it down.

Seems to happen every time a tournament takes place, free publicity anyone?
-
Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
What a daft overreaction. There might, just possibly, be some English people living in Cardiff who want to buy England football merchandise.. If someone finds that 'deeply offensive' they need help.

Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
Do shops in England sell Cymru merch? Could be some Wales fans in England would like to buy it.

Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
Tbf, Daily Mail readers seem to be the angriest again.

Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
Would it be ok to sell it if Wales hadn’t qualified?
No way to say it without being sexist but there’s a decent % of the country who wouldn’t be aware there was a wc let alone that we made it

Its a promotional display, not merchandise.
I'm sure, in this modern age, any English fans in Wales would be able to purchase England shirts without the need for England displays in Welsh shops, especially considering they're a group rival!

I find the same problem around these parts late on a Friday and Saturday night. Instead of using the WC they piss in the back alleys.

Re: England apologise for advertising in Welsh shops
its only a display stand of Lucozade ( who are I guess the official drink of England, or some other sponsor thing )
If people are offended by that, then its a worry, now if its because people have a chip on their shoulder about being Welsh and living in the UK, thats understandable as its fairly normal imho ( and Ive as Welsh as the next person )

Taking genuine offence is ridiculous, I think we all probably recognize that. Being a bit miffed at the lack of respect given that Wales have also qualified is probably fair enough.
I have no issue with English things being sold in Wales. A fifth of the population is English. But presenting it as "support the team" when Wales have qualified is where they went wrong.
