"The Board of Directors have, this evening, informed Jason that administrators will be called, at the earliest opportunity, tomorrow morning."
Club bosses also confirmed wages could not be paid to staff until the deal was made, because "Bond Group do not have the required funds to meet the club's full payroll commitment, despite being entirely responsible for paying wages until a sale completes."
They went on to say: "Panjab Warriors do have the funds available to pay all wages, and are ready to transfer these immediately, but they are not able to do so unless the sale completes and they are the owners."
It marks the potential end of a difficult era for Morecambe FC, that began in 2018 when Jason Whittingham bought the then-League Two club.
A promotion to League One in 2021 was followed by two back-to-back relegations, landing them in the National League for the first time.
Fans grew disappointed in Bond Group, and their anger culminated in a large protest during the last match of Morecambe's 2025 season in which they were officially relegated.
At the time, lifelong Morecambe supporter Tom Collins said: "Fans are frustrated. They've got every right, they spend much of their hard earned money to travel all over the country. They dedicate the week and their livelihood in order to follow this team.
"The least we deserve is some communication as to what's going on. This is a club that I've been following for over 30 years. We deserve better."
Behind the scenes, the club was unable to pay players and staff on time on numerous occasions - for which they were deducted three points during the 2022-23 season.
Panjab Warriors said last week they had already paid £3.8m to Bond Group alongside a separate payment of £630,000 to clear outstanding loans against the club.
The group claimed they had also loaned a further £1.7m to the club over the past 14 months to "ensure its ongoing survival".
I feel for the Morecambe fans, and hope they somehow get through this.
I can’t understand though, how Panjab Warriors have already plunged a lot of cash in, without them being the official club owners. Will they get any of that back if the club goes into admin?
