Robbie Savage new FGR manager
I’ve got to say I’m really surprised. He’s put everything, including his own money into reviving Macclesfield and achieving 3 promotions in 4 seasons, including breaking the points and goals for records. I thought he’d try and get them back into the FL.
But he’s jumped ship to team up with Mark Bowen at FGR, of course with the ever controversial Dale Vince.
I think they be favourites for the National League now, with lots of high scoring games.

Re: Robbie Savage new FGR manager
I've always had a soft spot for FGR.
The clips of Macclesfield playing when he was manager was very good quality, considering the league they were in.

FGR certainly have the most bucolic of settings for their home games.

We once had a thread about the 1666 Plague of London on here, so the word Bucolic has been used a few times, especially in that thread.

Nope, it was the Great Hay Fever Bucolic Plague, a year after the Bubonic Plague, just before the Great Fire.

And in between the explosion of HMS London on the Thames in 1665 which killed 300 men. It was a busy time.

😀 sorry, my mistake.
I enjoyed the walk up the hill when we played FGR in a preseason friendly* a few years ago.
We had a few pints in a very good pub that was happy for us to bring food in from the chippy next door.
* probably this match https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...ty-9666124.amp

I followed the default route selected by Google Maps that happened to take me over the hills and arriving from the opposite direction than one would take by going through the town. The road I descended on is on the right-hand side of this photo and a recess in the banking a little way up the hill afforded parking space for several vehicles. So there!

That’s the way I always go. Through Frocester. Park in the field above the ground. I have squatted on Forest Green Bluebirds drive in the past!
