Wimbledon Men’s Final 2025
This Alcaraz kid is like a hybrid of Federer and Nadal.
That shot to win the first set was ****ing unreal.
What. A. Player.

Re: Wimbledon Men’s Final 2025
The speed and accuracy they are both showing is unreal. Terrific final.

Thought it might have been a case of after the Lord Mayor Show after the French Open final but theyve picked up where they left off.
Every great sportsman needs a worthy opponent and these two could be going at it for years to come.

Re: Wimbledon Men’s Final 2025
Too much from Sinner to win that set. Don’t think you can get better tennis than that under pressure. A real 50/50 game.

Re: Wimbledon Men’s Final 2025
2-1 in sets Sinner.
Alcatraz not serving well.
-
Re: Wimbledon Men’s Final 2025
Can’t take to Sinner, probably because of his ban. If he holds on, he’ll surely become the first Wimbledon Champion to not win a set in one of his games - he was on his way out against Dimitrov until he injured himself while serving.

Can you remember the player who lost a Wimbledon men’s final without ever losing his serve ?

Is Prince George too young for a left hook?

To be fair, his parents, future King and Queen or not, dressed him like a right James Hunt today, as they always do.
Looks like his name should be Tristran Swatley 😂

Serve and volley days? Saw a video the other day talking about how the tournaments helped to change the game from serve and volley. I don't know why but I always thought it was more a natural change, maybe one or two baseliners being successful and influencing others but obviously not.
The courts and the equipment all changed.
I didn't even realise the Aus and US open used to be grass

I took your advice here Bill and switched over for a quick perv over Ms. Croft.
She was nowhere to be seen and instead I was met with Clare Balding, Tim Henman and someone named Todd Woodbridge.
Tough waanking material all round.

Borg was the master of baseline play. As cool as a cucumber.

My Doris has always liked the Tennis, before we met (40 odd years ago) she used to go to Wimbledon camp out etc for tickets she's seen Borg, Connors McEnroe, Ramirez, Stan Smith and quite a few of the stars from back in that period play live. I've only seen a few mins of highlights from todays final some incredible shots

Stan Smith v Ilie Nastase is still my favourite final.
Total contrast of styles and personalities.
Stan was (I think) a US Army corporal. Ilie was a junior officer in the Romanian Army back in 1972 (lieutenant maybe?) but ended up a Major General.
I read somewhere that they remained friends after that final.
Nastie was brilliant in those veterans doubles matches that were played for laughs - but showed off ridiculous levels of skill.

Pat Rafter was the last true serve and volleyer I remember. I thought the change in racquets was a factor in the move away from serve and volley, but you got players like Agassi who was so good at returning serve emerging and as a result maybe the percentages in terms of points won and lost by serve and volleyers began to work against them.
Stich and Edberg would have been a serve and volley Final from back in the dats when I used to watch every minute of the Final, but I can’t recall that one at all. I think there was a Final around that time that got rained off on the Sunday and had to be held over to the Monday, so, maybe, it was that one and I was in work? Just looked it up and it was Edberg v Lendl that went on into the Monday.
