Lovely touch by Newport County

In 1937, 56 Basque children fleeing war found safety in Newport and a team with The Basque Boys F.C. 🖤❤️
Our 25-26 Away Shirt honours their story with every name woven into the fabric.
A bond remembered. A shirt that tells their story.

The kit launch video is a great little watch as well. I wasn't aware of the original story although I know there are a lot of strong links between South Wales and the Basque country from that period.
Kind of thing I can't ever imagine our regime doing. Even the 125th anniversary stuff last year was bland and uninteresting.

Brilliant book - although big (736 pages). The fullest and most up-to-date history of the International Brigades.

I agree - an excellent and very balanced read. The last chapter where he explains what happened to many of the volunteers is very interesting. A very large percentage of the Stasi cabinet were ex-Brigades and one Irish nationalist member even ended up fighting for the Nazis.
Ive not read it but Hywel Francis' book, Miners Against Fascism, focuses on the Welsh volunteers.

Great story. Athletic Club are my la Liga team.
A lot of cultural, political and geographic similarities with here

Almost makes me want to buy one, but how long before someone slags them off for being woke given the current warped climate.
