Thanks, a balanced synopsis of where the club is at present. I do wonder if come a week Saturday when the competitive stuff begins we're going to have a Mike Tyson moment and get metaphorically punched in the face ! Re. buyout, takeovers, I think the 'fact' that there are three separate groups circling would suggest that Tan is definitely looking to sell up - 15 years is a fair amount of time and he's as probably fed up with us as we are with him. This morning the other place is suggesting a bid has been accepted. Here's hoping..

Just had a look at that post about a bid being accepted and it’s all very vague (as he admits himself) isn’t it. Can’t see anything anywhere else about any new info on the takeover overnight and so I’ll need an awful lot of convincing yet, but I really do hope he’s right - as long as it’s not the bid which is supposed to involve current Board members.

That poster has posted plenty of information over the last few months that has turned out to be completely false.

I'm not convinced by that argument.

If the recent 'reports' are true (Si on CCW and other media) the 'South African consortium' has been in talks with Tan and the club since January (may have made a formal bid, or may not have). The 'Board group' which most assume means Dalman appear to have been indicating an interest in acquiring the club since the latter half of last season. Neither of those approaches or indications of interest prevented Tan from claiming on relegation that he was up for the fight and wanted to lead the club back to the Championship.

The 'Bale consortium' appears to be more recent and may be a game changer (for themselves or in promoting one of the other groups) but it is still unclear from Bale's claims in the press if one or more formal bids have been made - or just a couple of exploratory offers to see if Tan will bite.

This all feels more serious and more likely to lead to an ownership change than anything we have seen in previous years - but I don't see any hard evidence of major movement or anything that convinces me that Tan 'is definitely looking to sell up'. I want to see a change of ownership for the better of the club, but I would not be surprised if there was no change for at least another year!

Posts on Twitter today suggests the SA bid is moving forward apace. Does have a ring of truth about it.
My short term concern is the lack of signings to bolster a very young squad. Could the potential takeover be putting a halt on signings.
If so we will be starting the season in a bad way.

... and that we’ve not really played anyone of any great note yet, three wins and a draw while scoring twenty three goals has to go some way towards restoring confidence levels which must have been on the floor at the end of last season.

Ah OK.

So little info from the club. I dont think they ever acknowledged that mystery game. They've not mentioned the Cambridge games last week apart from one tweet. All very surreal at the moment.

Good point. The lack of recruitment activity might the best indication that something is going on re-the takeover. Didn't BBM mention that incomings would be towards the end of the window. That would indicate loans?

Last Wednesday he told fans that he expected a couple of permanent signings (authorised and agreed by the board) "very shortly". He also clarified that loan signings he was targeting would take longer as Premier League clubs are yet to finalise their squads.

We now have a very good chance of getting in such players due to the connections and reputation Brian Barry-Murphy has with Manchester City and Chelsea managers.
